Sakkara

Sakkara, also spelled Sakkara, is an ancient Egyptian necropolis south of Cairo. It is home to several ancient structures, including the Necropolis of Saqqara, a vast cemetery with numerous pyramids, tombs and temples dating back to the Old Kingdom period.

One of the most famous temples in Saqqara is the Step Pyramid Complex of Djoser, which was built in the 27th century BC. It is considered one of the earliest examples of monumental stone architecture in Egypt and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Besides the Step Pyramid complex of Djoser, there are several other notable temples and structures in Saqqara, including the Pyramid of Unas, the Pyramid of Teti, and the Pyramid of Pepi I, among others. These structures and temples are known for their intricate carvings, hieroglyphic inscriptions and depictions of ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and practices.

Khan el Khalili

is a famous souk (marketplace) in the historic Muslim quarter of Cairo, Egypt. It is one of the oldest and most famous souks in the Middle East, dating back to the 14th century.

 

All in all, Khan el Khalili is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in experiencing Cairo’s vibrant culture and commerce, and is an excellent example of the city’s rich history and heritage.

Tour Plan

Day 1 Hurghada to Cairo

You will be picked up from your hotel at 2 o'clock in the morning by an employee of egypte4allreizen.

Upon arrival in Cairo you will be met by an employee/guide from egypte4allreizen.

After arrival we visit the National Museum in Fustat (Old Cairo) and here you can also visit all the royal mummies from the New Kingdom, including Seti I, Ramses II, Amenhotep III and many more.

Then we leave for the mosque and madrasa (Koran school) of Sultan Hassan and the Rifah mosque where the tombs of the last royal family of Egypt are located.

After this visit we drive through Cairo to Giza where we will have lunch and then visit the pyramid of King Cheops and the Valley Temple and causeway with the sphinx of his son King Chephren.

Overnight stay near the pyramids.

Day 2 Sakkara, Khan el Khalili and back to Hurghada

Early in the morning we drive to Sakkara, and you can see the pyramid of King Djoser from the 3rd dynasty. This pyramid is the oldest stone building in the world. Then we visit the mastaba of Mereruka and Kagemni, both sons-in-law of King Teti from the 6th dynasty, whose pyramid is located next to the mastabas and so we will also visit this pyramid.

After this we drive back to Cairo and visit the Khan el Khalili market. And we will have lunch here too.

After lunch we go for a walk on Muizz Street and see the old mosques and houses from the Ottoman period.

Since this is the last day of your Cairo trip, you will need to take all the luggage from your room after breakfast and load it into the car/bus.

Around 8 o'clock in the evening you will leave for Hurghada again and you will be dropped off at your hotel.

The entire excursion day will be accompanied by employees of Egypt4allreizen (Dutch, Italian, or English-speaking guides).
