Coptic Museum

Coptic Museum The Coptic Museum is a museum in the Fustat district of Old Cairo, Egypt.
It is dedicated to the art and history of Egypt’s Coptic Christian community, which is a
has a long and rich history in the country.

The museum also features exhibits on the history and culture of the Coptic community,
including exhibitions on their religious practices, art and architecture. Visitors can
see examples of Coptic textiles, such as tapestries and embroidered garments, as well as intricate
carved wooden furniture and liturgical objects.

Many of the pharaohs built their palaces and temples in Memphis, including the great temple of Ptah, the city’s patron deity. The city was also a center of trade and commerce, with a bustling port on the Nile connecting it to other parts of Egypt and beyond.

Tour Plan

Day 1 Flight from Hurghada to Cairo.

Depending on the flight to Cairo, you will be picked up from your hotel by a staff member of Egypt4AllReizen.

Upon arrival at Cairo airport, you will be met by a staff member of Egypte4AllReizen.

After arrival, we will visit the Coptic Museum in Fustat (Old Cairo). Then, we will continue exploring Old Cairo and visit the Mosque of Amr Ibn Al Ash, the oldest mosque in Egypt. Afterwards, we will visit the Coptic Hanging Church and the Jewish Ben Ezra Synagogue. After these visits, we will have lunch and then explore Muizz Street and Khan el Khalili, with its many beautiful mosques and houses from the Ottoman era.

After completing our visits, we will drive through Cairo to Giza, where we will check into our hotel.

Day 2 Memphis, Sakkara, Dashur

This morning, you will drive to the ancient capital of Pharaonic Egypt, Memphis, which means 'White Walls.' The city was built by the first king, Narmer, of the 1st dynasty, following the unification of the two lands. Lower and Upper Egypt.

Next, we'll head to Saqqara, where you can explore the Pyramid of King Djoser from the 3rd dynasty. This pyramid is considered the oldest stone building in the world. Then we visit the mastaba of Mereruka and Kagemni, both sons-in-law of King Teti from the 6th dynasty, whose pyramid is located next to the mastabas and so we will also visit this pyramid.

Today's lunch will be near Sakkara.

In the afternoon we visit the pyramids in Dashur, these are the pyramids of King Huni, the father of King Cheops. They are the Bend Pyramid and the Red Pyramid and both are open for viewing.

Afterwards back to the hotel in Giza.

Day 3 Pyramid of Cheops and the Gem museum.

This morning after breakfast we will visit the pyramid of King Cheops from the 4th dynasty. Then we drive over the Giza plateau past the sphinx to the valley temple of King Khafre, the son of Cheops. There we walk through the temple to the Causeway, which is the long path from the temple to the pyramid over which the sarcophagus with the king was pulled over to the pyramid during the funeral. This is also where the guardian of the pyramid, the sphinx, lies.

After this visit we drive around the pyramids and visit the newest and largest museum in Egypt. Upon arrival we will take a short break and then visit the department of the Old Kingdom. Then we will have lunch and after lunch we will visit King Tutankhamun's department. Where we can see the famous golden mummy mask and the golden mummy coffins.

After this visit we unfortunately have to go back to the airport.

Since this is the last day of your Cairo trip, you will need to take all the luggage from your room after breakfast and load it into the car/bus.
