Day Trip to the Valley of the Queens, Deir-el-Medina, and the Ramesseum

This day trip from Luxor takes you to three of the most fascinating and historically significant sites on the West Bank of the Nile. You will explore the Valley of the Queens, visit the ancient working-class city of Deir-el-Medina, and discover the impressive temple of the Ramesseum. Each of these sites offers unique insights into the life and culture of ancient Egypt.

Morning: Valley of the Queens and Deir-el-Medina

07:00 – Depart Luxor

Depart from your hotel in Luxor by private vehicle towards the West Bank of the Nile.

07:30 – Arrive at the Valley of the Queens

Explore the Valley of the Queens: Start your day with a visit to the Valley of the Queens, an important burial site where the royal wives, princesses, and children of the pharaohs were interred. Visit some of the impressive tombs, including the Tomb of Nefertari, famous for its vibrant murals. Access to specific tombs may vary, and your guide will make recommendations based on availability and your interests.

09:30 – Departure to Deir-el-Medina

After visiting the Valley of the Queens, continue to Deir-el-Medina, located approximately 20 minutes away.

10:00 – Arrive at Deir-el-Medina

Explore Deir-el-Medina: Discover Deir-el-Medina, the ancient working-class city known for the high quality of the art and inscriptions found in the tombs. The site offers a fascinating insight into the daily lives of the artists and craftsmen who decorated the tombs in the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens. Walk through the ruins of the houses, temple, and burial grounds of this ancient community.

Afternoon: Ramesseum

12:00 – Lunch

Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant or a box lunch provided by your guide. This will give you the opportunity to relax and recharge for the rest of the day.

13:00 – Departure to the Ramesseum

After lunch, travel to the Ramesseum, located approximately 30 minutes from Deir-el-Medina.

13:30 – Arrival at the Ramesseum

Explore the Ramesseum: Visit the Ramesseum, the impressive temple of Ramesses II, also known as the “House of Ramesses.” This temple is famous for its gigantic statues of Ramesses II and the remains of monumental architecture that illustrate the power and wealth of this pharaoh. Explore the impressive halls, reliefs, and monumental sculptures that document the glorious era of Ramesses II.

15:30 – Free Time and Return to Luxor

After your visit to the Ramesseum, you may have some free time to explore the area or take photos. Then, you will travel back to Luxor.

17:00 – Arrive in Luxor

Arrive at your hotel in Luxor. You will have the rest of the evening free to relax or explore the city further.

• Comfortable Clothing: Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and sturdy shoes for walking. Also, bring sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen.
• Water and Snacks: Bring plenty of water and light snacks to stay hydrated and energized throughout the day.
• Camera: Don’t forget to bring your camera or smartphone to capture the beautiful temples and archaeological sites.

• Children from 6 to 12 years: Pay 50% of the regular price
