MASTABA OF IRUKAPTAH
MASTABA Â OF IRUKAPTAH Irukaptah, also known by the name Khenu, held titles as master butcher of the great house, i.e., of the palace, and wab priest.
He lived in the middle of the 5th Dynasty
His grave, known as the Butcher’s Grave, lies on the southern side of the Unas causeway in Sakkara.
The entrance to the tomb is on the north side and in the chapel there is a false door and 14 beautiful statues in niches. These are relatives of Iruka Ptah. Their titles and names are with the images. This is the only tomb that has these beautiful statues carved out of the rock. 9 statues have been painted, the last one is unfinished.
Furthermore, all scenes in the grave have to do with the butcher.
The grave contains at least 5 shafts and has seen the burial of at least 10 people.
There is a false door on the west
The Unas causeway is approximately 750 meters long. It connects this king’s pyramid with his mortuary temple, located in the valley, very close to the Nile. Nowadays the river flows more to the east, and sand surrounds this mortuary temple.
Within about 200 meters of the pyramid, along the course of the causeway, people constructed about twenty tombs or mastabas over the decades, most of them anonymously. These were built almost entirely following a model found in the 5th and 6th Dynasties.

are now located south of the causeway and can be divided into a western group and two groups to the east.
They are located on two different levels. The upper group includes the Tomb of Neferherenptah, also known as the “Tomb of the Birds,” which Osirisnet will soon add.
